Barb Slaven

Barb Slaven has been a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul since 1989 and has served in numerous roles inlcuding, Conference President, District Council President, President of the Board of Directors for the SVdP Thrift Stores in Omaha, and National Vice President – Midwest Region. Barb has served on the National Voice of the Poor Committee and is a member of the Formation Team for the Midwest Region. She has been involved with Ozanam Orientations, Invitation to Serve, Invitation for Renewal, USCCB Catholic Social Ministry Gathering, Region and National SVdP Meetings and many other SVdP activities. Barb is Secretary for the SVdP Disaster Services Corporation and is a member of the Omaha District Council’s Disaster Services Committee. At St. Bernadette Parish, Barb serves as President of the SVdP Conference, is an EMHC, member of Altar Society, and prepares and serves dinner monthly (along with her fellow Vincentians) at the Stephen Center homeless shelter. Barb grew up on a farm in Portsmouth, Iowa, where she attended St. Mary’s Our Lady of Fatima Church and School.
